Like so many other authors, I started writing at a very young age. I loved to read, devouring everything in sight but when I ran out of the stories I liked, I quickly made up my own. I even wrote a small mini-series, The Steve and Laurie Mystery Books, which were, of course a take off from dear Nancy Drew.

My parents though, were pragmatists. They never put down my writing (they loved reading as much as I did) but they did encourage me to have a steady career. Something where I never had to worry about losing my job. The summer after I turned thirteen, I volunteered as a Candy Striper at a local nursing home. The people were wonderful and I fell in love with nursing.

As the oldest of four, there wasn't a lot of extra money for college. I worked several part-time jobs to put myself through nursing school. There were times I hung on the edge of being booted out of the program (you had to maintain a higher than C average) but hard work prevailed and I managed to graduate and pass my state boards.

I knew early on that critical care was the specialty for me. Then years later, I somehow ended up in management, which brought me a whole new set of skills. While working full-time and having a family, I managed to go back to school to complete my Bachelor's of Science degree in nursing, then on to a Master's of Business Administration. I graduated with my MBA in 1996 and discovered that I had extra time on my hands (time I spent studying or in class). Time I could now set aside for something I wanted to do.

Meet my dog, Mac. Isn't he cute?

My husband Scott and I have been married for almost 20 years. I have a beautiful seventeen-year-old daughter Nicole, and a great fourteen-year-old son, Jonathan. They are wonderful kids although having two teenagers in the house is an adventure all its own.

With my family's support, I went back to my dream of being a writer. I discovered there was so much I didn't know and after joining RWA (Romance Writers of America) I began to learn and hone my craft.

Seven years later, I'm thrilled to combine my favorite careers into one. Writing medical romance for Harlequin Mills & Boon.

I hope you enjoy my books. Happy reading!
